Overview

This project involved the meticulous restoration of an Arts and Crafts style villa built around 1940.

To maintain historical authenticity and enhance the property’s longevity, we replaced the original Marseille clay tiles with premium Italian clay tiles.

An integrated micro-ventilated roof substructure was installed ensuring continuous passive ventilation to control condensation and extend the life of the timber substrate. Deteriorating lead chimneys and apron flashings, valleys and critical architectural junctions were replaced with heavy-duty custom designed 0.80mm copper to deliver a maintenance-free, lifetime solution.

Engineered custom hidden valleys and modification of drainage system were made to channel heavy rainwater directly into the gutter system, eliminating hazardous water runoff over lower roof sections preventing potential leaks.

Two sections of the roof were upgraded with copper standing seam roofing to optimize weather protection and durability. Downpipe size and positions are optimizing to guarantee proper water management. Italian-made 0.80mm OG profile copper gutters is installed on the main entrance roof, offering a significantly stronger and more durable drainage system than the original. Every copper joint across the project was precision-brazed and sealed using traditional standing seam techniques, securing a completely watertight, structurally sound finish designed to protect this heritage home for generations.
